How to Get It All Done
If you often feel busy, overwhelmed, and that there’s never enough time to get everything done, this episode is for you.
I share a simple structure tool to Getting It ALL Done and being more productive than you ever imagined was possible!
When I follow this structure tool, I not only get a lot done, but I enjoy doing it. I don’t have the worry, anxiety, and overwhelm feelings that keep me up at night.
Remember your brains job is to keep you alive.
One way it does this is by helping you conserve energy.
The brain is really good at selling us on the ideas we shouldn’t do it if it is too hard – physically, mentally, or emotionally.
Our emotions fuel our actions. They can either slow us down or help us to be more productive.
Every emotion/feeling we have comes from a thought.
When it comes to getting everything done, it’s really helpful to decide what emotions we DO want and what emotions are useful.
We know our brain is always going to default to the less useful emotions – that’s just the way our brain works.
It thinks it’s keeping us alive and safe.
We are going to have to deliberately choose to operate from these useful emotions which will allow us to access the creative part of our brain.
-TIME-BLOCKING-
Alrighty, now let’s talk about Time-blocking and how to do it.
1. Notice your thoughts of resistance to this idea. Work on this first.
2. When you’re ready, take out a piece of paper and write down everything you want to get done for the week.
The things you want to get done are your results.
3. Now it’s time to plan your weekly to-do’s. With your result’s list close-by, make another list of all the tasks you need to do to accomplish each result. (baby steps)
4. Once you have everything broken down into baby steps, decide how much time you will allow for each result.
5. Plan when during the week you’re going to do each of these baby steps and write them down on your calendar (in ink).
6. Then honor your commitment. Make sure you stick to the allotted time.
