Some Mother’s Child
Today I have another tool for you to use to help you show up with love. This tool is one a had to learn the hard way.
Not too long ago, I had a close family member struggle and rebel. He rebelled against my family, the gospel, and the law. Many MANY people judged not only him, but also his parents, and especially his mother. It was a difficult thing to witness and to go through, but it taught me a great lesson on love. Whenever I encounter someone who is easy to judge, but difficult to love, I remind myself that this person is some mother’s child. Out there in the world there is this person’s mother who is praying for a miracle. She is wishing people would love her son instead of judge her son, and maybe -just maybe- be that miracle.
I often think of the scripture in Alma that says, “And who knoweth but what they will be the means of bringing many thousands of them, yea, and also many thousands of our stiffnecked brethren, the Nephites, who are now hardening their hearts in sin and iniquities, to the knowledge of their Redeemer?” (Alma 37:10)
Louise Hay said, “Love is the Miracle Cure”. Love can work miracles. I’ve seen it happen.
So the next time that person cuts you off on the freeway, or blows smoke in your face while you’re filling up your gas tank – show them love. Who knows, it just might be the life-changing miracle their mother is praying for.
